The Migrant Quilts

Mission

The Migrant Quilt Project creates quilts made from recycled migrant clothing found at lay-up sites along the US/Mexico border, depicting the names of those who have perished in the borderlands in the Tucson Sector. Our mission is to raise awareness about the causes of migration and the deleterious U.S. foreign and domestic policies that have created the immigration crisis. We also question the efficacy of border policies such as Operation Gatekeeper, Hold the Line and Safeguard that continues to funnel migrants into remote regions where death by deterrence is inevitable. We advocate against the Border Wall.
